RELAY positions itself as a year round after school children/youth development program; thus this allows the educational process to continue far beyond the four walls of a classroom. Our motto is “RELAY is education for life”! We define education as the lifelong process of positive learning that can be shared for the greater good of both humanity and society. The community, the city, and the world becomes their classroom. Therefore we serve as an ally to the schools rather than a competitor. We are an alternative during a time period where many children are bored and may find themselves pursuing potentially negative activities.

RELAY fills that void with a unique approach to learning, fostering programs and activities that extends beyond the theoretical  teachings of the typical classroom into activities and skills that lend themselves to transition the classroom concepts into practical applications.  RELAY activities and broadcasts allows students to witness what they are reading about in class and apply their classroom learned knowledge into real life situations and circumstances.  We believe in the ideal fostered by Mark Twain, by not allowing mere schooling to interfere with education.

Schools are a great tool for education, but relying solely on institutional standards will prove inhibiting. We aim to help our kids adopt a thirst for learning that will push them to seek knowledge through self-motivation. If pianos had never been invented, how many exceptional musical prodigies that play be ear would have gone undiscovered? Clearly, that would mask a wealth of undiscovered talent. We continue to move forward, exposing our talented youth to their unknown gifts that simply cannot be addressed in school alone. Our aim is to remove excuses for failure or mediocrity and replace them with tools for life.
